how to start a fashion ladies brand with $1000

I really don’t know anything about the fashion industry, but it all depends on what skills you have.

Are you someone who loves to design clothes and create them yourself? If you can create the apparel yourself, then you can buy the materials cheaply and create the merchandise and sell it at local stores to start (independent stores, not big chains). The markup is generally very good in fashion, and especially if you target the higher-end market.

The key, of course, is marketing, marketing, marketing. Once you design the merchandise you have to sell it so you need to build relationships with local retailers who sell to your target customer.

You could also host home parties to sell your merchandise, a time-tested method for marketing (especially to women).

Once you have some good initial sales, just reinvest the profits and grow from there. Get testimonial letters from the merchants you sell through if they get good results selling your wears. Take all those testimonials and start building relationships with chain stores (smaller regional chains, not the big national players yet). Once you get into some good regional chains, then you’re ready to go to the next level.
